The Transportation Security Board of Canada (TSB) is launching an investigation into the deadly incident.

A staff of investigators is touring to Newfoundland to assemble data and conduct interviews.

In a press release TSB stated: ‘Within the coming days, we’ll coordinate our actions with different businesses concerned.’

It stated its investigation could be into the ‘deadly prevalence involving the Canadian-flagged vessel Polar Prince and the privately operated submersible Titan’.

The TSB added it would ‘conduct a security investigation relating to the circumstances of this operation performed by the Canadian-flagged vessel Polar Prince’.
